The Art School Dance - created 10-10-2007
The Art School Dance is a celebration of the Wee Red Bar's unique musical history.
The film set out to showcase new and emerging musical telent in Edinburgh. The shoot was staged over 2 days at the Wee Red Bar at Edinburgh College of Art where we had a 4 camera HDV shoot to record 20 unique acts over a 2 day period. The film was also used to celebrate the centenary year of the art college.
Whilst editing the enormous amount of footage acquired of the 20 bands we intercut the musical tracks with behind the scenes documentary footage shot on location. As the documentary footage was shot at standard definition we had to come up with a solution to display the SD footage within an HDV frame. The fruit machine effect gives it a unique feel that enabled us to incorporate as much of the extra footage as possible, providing an insight into the backstage preparations.
We showcased the film for the bands at a red-carpet premiere night at the Cameo cinema sponsored by Odd Bins. The DVD is being prepared for international release with sponsorship from Quadrille.
